Helpston Village Hall

The Village Hall
West Street,

The Village Hall is on the B1443, West Street, opposite Clare Court.  Parking is in the street. Use the “Around Helpston” tab on the main menu to access a Google map to help you find your way.

Helpston Village Hall is a thriving venue for a mix of organisations who meet there on a regular basis. Originally a WW1 accommodation hut for the Canadian military the wooden building was a leftover from The Great War and found its way to Helpston. One or two residents still remember the building being delivered one summers day on horse and cart and helping to unload it to its current resting place.

The Hall is regularly used by a variety of local organisations as well as the many one-off events which take place such as children’s parties, anniversaries and birthdays. In addition, the Hall is used as a venue for The John Clare Festival, which takes place each year on the closest Saturday to the Poet’s birthday of 13th July.

Helpston Parish Council hold their meetings in the Village Hall on the first Monday of every month, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The public are warmly invited to attend.

Listed below is the current weekly diary of regular users:

Monday :
9.30 – 11.30 Toddler Group

10.00-11.00 Line Dancing
7.00 – 8.00 Boxercise

First Thursday of every Month
Helpston W.I. 7.30p.m.

September to April
Wednesday Evenings Bowls

All are welcome at any of the above events.

The hall is managed by a committee of volunteers who meet regularly in the hall to discuss its day to day running and maintenance. Each organisation in the village is represented, from the Tennis Club to the WI, and over a cup of tea we are all afforded the opportunity to put forward the views of our organisations as to how the hall is managed.

Should you be interested in attending our meetings, or would like any further information about the hall please contact the Secretary, Tammy Tushingham on 01733 253770.

If you would like to hire the hall, please contact the Booking Secretary, Caryn Thompson, on 01733 252232

Hi there, my name is Sinead. I’m hoping to be bringing a local dance school to the area and was interested in hiring the hall. I have been told about the hall from a friend of mine who used to hire from you guys. So I was just interested in the availability for repeating weakly times and the rate.

Many thanks
